The city of Borjomi is located in the Borjomi Gorge at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level. It is a resort surrounded by mountain ranges covered with forests. First and foremost, this city is known as a balneological resort. The local mineral water is very useful for the prevention and treatment of stomach and kidney diseases. Baths with Borjomi water are recommended for cardiovascular and respiratory problems. But local mineral waters are not the only reason why tourists come here. The famous Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is located here - the largest park in Europe. It is remarkable for its natural beauty, the park's area is 85,083 hectares, with over 1200 species of plants and 60 species of animals. The park is also known for its large number of birds, with more than 215 species of local and migratory birds living here.
Near Borjomi, there is an interesting place - the Green Monastery. You find yourself in front of heavy ancient gates, and the road leads through a fairy-tale forest. Behind these walls, far from the worldly bustle, your soul finds peace.
The monastery consists of a simple church and bell tower. The frescoes are modern but very interesting and beautiful.
These places (as well as all places in Georgia) are full of their own unique charm.
